Tequila in Mexico

This is my first video for Videoblogging Week 2009. We went to Xochimilco (pronounced So-Chee-Milk-Oh) last week and listened to these guys play “Tequila” on the Merimba.

The crazy thing i that these guys seem to be playing on a boat.

Hey Jay! That IS the crazy thing. They pull their boat right up next to yours, tie it on, and then play. It’s a lot of fun.

    Where’s the beer!!?!?

So, basically, they take you hostage by hooking onto your boat and force you to listen to them play? Do they bring beer?

    Great stuff :)

they’re like floating mariachis, only without the singing and with the xylophone

    Awesome!

thanks for sharing it - it’s something I’ve never ever seen! yay!

@David…the beer is in a bucket on your boat. You pay for what you drink…or you can get it from one of many floating vendors on the canal.

oh…and they don’t take you hostage…they ask if you want them to play. they will only play if you PAY them (it’s like $2 a song).

@cheryl…there are mariachis, too. here’s a vid of that: http://ymimexico.org/2008/06/23/video-of-mariachi-band-in-xochimilco/
