Sorry for the silence lately. We are internet-less. You can read about it here and here. Hopefully, they’ll fix it today. So weird to be offline for so long.

Hello my name is Beth Zimmerman and I graduated from Philadelphia Biblical University. I have always had a passion for World Missions and am an elementary school teacher and have the privilege everyday to “teach the world”. I teach in NJ and havediverse population of students come through my classroom doors. I know it is not quite time for school to begin again but I am beginning a new program which will take lots of time and preparation so I wanted to get a jump start on things. I will do my best to explain it without confusing you. In my classroom, we study different letters each month. We have different themes each month but also an overall theme of our classroom for the year. Our overall theme this year is “Globetrotting”. We will be traveling around the globe (pretending) to visit other countries and each of the fifty states.; Our goal is to have postcards from around the world and in each state along with different photographs, letters and any other creative ideas people have that will help the children to understand the culture, the people, the weather, and the needs thereThe goal is that we will develop relationships with people around the world and then have the ability to serve them in whatever way that we can.; It could bethefaithful prayer of a child, a simple care package, we have sent toys, stuffed animals and other items to different people groups in need. After we have developed relationships, I would like to develop a monthly “globe” project where we serve someone else during that month. ie: I have a great friend in Kenya who works with children in an orphanage. They need soccer balls and other equipment for there play activities. Our school was able to pay for one older student to continue higher education and also send equipment during the month; It was such a great opportunity to serve someone else, to be aware of others needs and to see the gratefulness through photographs we received from Kenya after they got their gifts; It is;in those moments that students here in America begin to realize and to;internalize what it;means to be a servant of God’s.;Too many children here have toomany things and;do not know;how to genuinely;help others without getting “paid” for their services. My goal is to teach these children about love, compassion, service, kindness etc and that we are able to use the blessings God has given to us here in NJ to touch the hearts and lives of others in need; The packet we will be sending out will have a little man whose name is Stanley, he is a character from a book who is flat and gets sent in envelopes around the world. Stanley will be our connection to people all around the world. After you receive Stanley, you can write on the journal pages, color the other side of Stanley so that he looks similar to a typical child in your country, take pictures of Stanley in famous places around your country and then send him back to school. You can send post cards or whatever you feel is appropriate. The children will be responsible for getting the mail for our classroom and will be anticipating Stanley’s arrival back to New Jersey. We hope you will be able to help us out with this project!; Have a wonderful and blessed day! If you are interested in being a part of this project, please just send me a mailing address so the children can send you out Stanley and also any information that may be helpful in doing this project. (ie: it takes three months to receive or send mail) Thank you again for your time. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Each of you was chosen because you serve in one of the countries we will be studying from A-Z. We appreciate you being a part of our learning process. You will be in our prayers!
>In His Grip,
Beth
