Here’s another video that was sent to us from Troy Temple, professor at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He’s been to Mexico a few times in the last 5 years, helping us with the ministry here.
Congratulations Video #1
Brent Carl, who came to Mexico to teach Programs in Youth Ministry in December, sent us a video to congratulate the Center for Youth Ministry. We’ll be playing it at our anniversary event.
5th Anniversary
Wow! I can’t believe that the Center for Youth Ministry at the Mexican Baptist Theological Seminary is celebrating our 5th anniversary. Tomorrow we’ve got a celebration planned to give thanks to God and everyone who has been involved with training youth workers in Mexico during the last 5 years.
We were one of (if not the first) youth ministry program offered in Latin America, and we have enjoyed the last five years. We are seeing God do many things in Mexico and the rest of Latin America, and we are excited to be a part of it.
I’ll be posting more things tomorrow, but for now, here’s a quick promotional video we made for the celebration dinner:

Surprise Birthday Party
My students (and Janell) pulled off a great surprise birthday party yesterday after class. I almost blew it because I wouldn’t leave the classroom so they could set it up. I had some emails and things to take care of, so I stayed behind because my office is really hot in the afternoons.
Well, they eventually got me to leave, set up the room, and then surprised me with an AWESOME video they made for me, complete with a song they wrote and performed. I don’t have a copy of the video yet, but when I do get one, I’ll definitely post it here.
Here’s some video of me taking a bite out of the cake.
Seminary Family
I have been thinking about a lot of things today, and these things have made me come to one great conclusion: I am so grateful for my students at the Seminary.
At our Seminary, we talk about the fact that the students aren’t “pastors in training;” they are pastors. Understanding this helps me so much whenever situations happen and we need to evaluate them, ask for prayer, and basically look for someone to listen.
I am privileged to have my students and the people at the Seminary. It makes days like today a little easier.
National Youth Ministry Conference
I’ve been busy getting ready for our first ever National Youth Ministry Conference. It will be held November 27-28, 2009, at the Mexican Baptist Theological Seminary.
The event is going to be huge. We have invited more than 12 speakers, there are at least 3 bands coming, and we’re hoping to have an attendance of at least 350.
The theme is “High Voltage,” talking about the power of God for our ministries. I’m hoping it will allow us to both train some youth workers and connect with them.
This event is taking up a lot of our energy. We also start classes this week. It’s a crazy time! But, as always, it’s great!
Here’s the promo video I made for the event:

Our first National youth workers conference in Mexico City, called “High Voltage,” will take place November 27-28, 2009.
Posted via email from Life and other things…
We’re having our first National Youth Ministry Conference this November. I’ve been working pretty hard on it. Here’s the first round of publicity.
