December 3 we’ll be having our first ever Youth Ministry Forum at the Mexican Baptist Theological Seminary.
I skyped into the board meeting of Youth Ministry International in order to give a little report on what is happening in Latin America, and I received such an encouragement from David Adams, the director of the Center for Youth Ministry at Southern Seminary in Kentucky. Check the video to hear what he said.
His words were just what I needed to hear, and they reminded me of Proverbs 25:11 – “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”
Randy Smith from Youth Ministry International came to Mexico last weekend to meet with various Seminaries to talk about a new Master’s program we are starting to train youth ministry professors. These professors will then start youth ministry programs at their Seminaries.
Despite horrible traffic, the meetings went well. If all goes well we will begin the program sometime next year, and at the end of the program there will be at least 4 youth ministry programs at Seminaries throughout Mexico.
Here are some pictures we took of the meetings.

The idea is to help the local church dialogue about the issues facing us as we seek to interact with young people and reach their culture. Today we had a meeting to focus on the topic and help us plan the event so that it will benefit those who attend.
Please be in prayer for this event. I hope it leads to many good discussions on how we should go about reaching and discipling young people in Mexico.
Like I mentioned in the previous post, I taught a Camps and Retreats class in October. This video is a little about what we did during the event.

For the last week of class, I had the students organize a retreat. They did all the planning, and it turned out pretty well. The speakers were Randy Smith and Maykel Valdez, who were already coming in for some meetings that we were having to expand youth ministry training in Latin America. Their topics were general leadership and also how to connect what happens at camps and retreats to what happens in everyday ministry.
We had a great time. You can see the pictures on Flickr by clicking here.
