Seen in Mexico City Today

I was a little bored from not doing anything for the last few days, so I decided to get out of the house and drive around today to see what was going on in Mexico City.

Here’s what I saw.

Empty Reforma

Paseo de La Reforma is one of the two main roads in Mexico City. Usually, it is bustling with traffic and people. It’s pretty much never this empty, but due to H1N1 (swine flu), today it was fairly empty.

Lion Mask

This child street performer dressed up as a lion was also wearing a blue mask today. There were many street vendors still out today, despite the government’s advice to stay home.

Taxi Driver with gloves

The green taxis are an icon of the city. Today, the drivers were wearing masks and rubber gloves. This was the best picture I could get of a gloved taxista.

Qik video from the beach in Huatulco

I took this video on my phone and streamed it live via Qik.com while we were vacationing in Huatulco, Mexico.

Huatulco is in the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico. That’s the Pacific Ocean in the video.

Nathan turns Four Years Old

Last Saturday was Nathan’s birthday. I can’t believe it has been four years since he was born. He sure has changed a lot over the years.

We made him a birthday cake and put Bob from the movie Monsters vs. Aliens on it. We made Bob out of cupcakes. When he saw it, he said he thought we were going to put a flat one (just a drawing) on the cake, and he laid down on the floor to demonstrate what he meant.

He was happy with the cake, though.

I tried to stream live when we were blowing out candles and singing happy birthday to him, but the internet here didn’t want to cooperate. I have some video from before we sang and blew out the candles.

And these pictures from our family birthday party:

Due to the Swine Flu pandemic, we postponed his other birthday party that was scheduled for tomorrow.

Janell wrote that he was four on her facebook status, and I commented: “Four incredible years with my little buddy. Nathan you are definitely one of my best friends in the whole world.” It is definitely true. These have been four great years.
